The most beautiful sunset on Tonle Sap, photos can't do justice

Hello all guides,

I hope you are well, and already start something exciting for 2022.

I don’t travel much lately to share about new places, but of course I have many places I visited in the past and wanted to share to all of you.

If you have followed me and read some articles of mine, you knew that I launched many posts about floating villages around Cambodia and I also mentioned about my experience there differently. Link to a list of floating villages to visit in Cambodia.

My experience at those floating villages was great and unique. I witnessed one of the greatest sunset during my trip in Phat Sanday floating village on Tonle Sap lake back in 2017 during my mission there. That was when different kinds of birds flew back home to their treehouses. I only captured photos in the phone which cannot really do justice of how beautiful it was. Along the way to where we viewed those birds, there were big birds like pelicans, looking for food in the open lake. Sadly, I couldn’t get better quality photos to share, only these captured by phone. Birds photography needs such a high and advanced tool and lens to captures, e.g: lens 400mm with a pro camera.

Touring the village

To capture photos of under-forest or beautiful sunset, you need the right season and time, say going in dry season and you need at least 1N2D at the site. First, rent a local boat and tell them you want to go for sunset view. Second, touring the floating village during the morning and then walk in the underwater forest. The underwater forest are visible and accessible during dry season (December to May) and lay underwater of about 5-10m in rainy season.

Sunset

Can’t tell how I felt at that time!

Beauty of the sunset over the lake is un-compared

Phone camera isn’t ideal for such eye-catching and breath-taking landscape

If you look closer, you will see uncountable birds on those trees in white color

… and there are more…

…those birds, those trees and the sun…

Thank you bong - I think that the most beautiful sunrise/sunset is when you view it from either lake, river or seas @ChamnanMuon but here, when I say it is beautiful because we can see many things at the same time, either the bird fly over the lake and the sunset reflection over the lake in just one frame… it is just beyond expectations!

Phat Sanday isn’t really a tourist place, I mean it is least well known among either local or foreign visitors.

Dear @Sophia_Cambodia

The photos of Sunset are really awesome. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful post with us.

@Sophia_Cambodia Awesome photos of the beautiful sunset. Hope to visit and see the beautiful sunset there one day. I had the opportunity to visit one of the floating villages at Tonle Sap when I visited Siem Reap many years ago but didn’t get to see the sunset. Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos.
