Escadório, and the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte - Braga, Portugal
The works on the first chapels, stairways and church proceeded through the 18th century. Every chapel represents a part of a biblical story and has a fountain nearby. The main part of the stairs has a zigzag pattern. The staircase has 583 steps. To facilitate the access to the church, a funicular was built (the first one in the Iberian peninsula).
