Hello, local guide
Every twelve years, the Hindu pilgrimage or festival known as Mahakumbha or Kumbh Mela is held in a particular places, such as Prayagraj, Haridwar, Ujjain, or Nashik.
Because each of these cities is situated next to a river, they were chosen. This time, I had the opportunity to learn more about the celebration that will begin in Prayagraj , Uttar Pradesh, India, on January 13, 2025.During this occasion, people worship the sun, moon, and other gods and take holy baths in Triveni Sangam. This is a religious bath that is modelled after a Hindu monk, it is not your typical bath. Devotees follow Hindu monk after they take their first bath in the river. This bath time is not typical; it is chosen on purpose by monastic society or Hindu astrologers. Using astrological data, they selected a period of time when all of the planets and terrestrial bodies were in their correct positions and called it the Amrit bath or Shahi bath. They felt that salvation would come after dipping into the river at that moment.
I arrived here to examine the area before to the event throughout my journey. What I discovered here and what is being prepared for this massive event, people travel from all over the world to dip in this holy location of Triveni Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers converge. Although there is no proof of the Saraswati River, it was once meeting at this edge.
Numerous boats with flags of various colours stand in waterways, signifying acceptance and sovereignty. In order to demonstrate unity and fraternity, monks from various regions of India or the world, each with their own customs, cultures, and ethnicities, participated in this occasion by taking Amrit baths together.
About 40 crore people visit this location for pilgrimage, making it a very significant and holy occasion. The government and district administration are actively planning for it.
Building a guide centre, restrooms, electrification, security challenges, traffic, barricading the riverside, and a temporary bridge to facilitate easy mobility.
On the opposite bank of the river, Hindu monks and people from all over the world live in tents with their respective communities. Numerous Akhada, Mandals, and other religious organizations set up their tents or hubs to meet with their devotees and provide for all of their needs. Many food shelters are open and free for everyone, and when I spoke with them, they told me that they are only doing what God has ordained for them. Some monks also perform religious rituals, known as karma Kanda, to bring peace to their ancestors in heaven.
For all of us, this is a huge and epic occasion. I encourage everybody who believes in astrology to come here. Amazon will be present at this holy fair, also known as Mahakumbh.I’ll attempt to attend this massive festival as well. Feel the force of spirituality by exploring this place.
In addition, I went to nearby locations such
Shri Bade Hanuman Ji Mandir
Sri Akshayavat Temple Patalpuri
I’ll talk about my experiences in a future post. I sincerely hope you enjoy this piece and leave a comment below with your thoughts.
Important: for the first time, a temporary city is integrated into the Google map for Mahakumbh 2025, making it easier to navigate and get to the destination.
