You live and don’t know what kind of surprises are prepared for you by life. Even small ones, they will have a great importance if you know how to rejoice on them.
Someone may try to do their business for a long and tedious way in order to become rich and get moral satisfaction from self-realization, someone is hard engaged in self-education for a long time, dreaming of prestigious school, etc.
But luck often does not accompany such matters, and person doesn’t always receive a moral satisfaction for his efforts.
Someone can just do something out of boredom, without expecting anything special, and he suddenly succeeds. That’s not often of course. I can’t say that I am among such people, but I already have some small moral satisfaction at least. More about it.
It was the Local Guide program that began to completely unexpectedly please me. Once, during a trip, I’ve taken a picture of one railstation from the train window on the phone, immediately I got an offer to publish it on Google Maps, well, I’ve done it. A few weeks later I received an email that my picture is popular and has gained more than 100 views. It is not many for the web, but it was nice anyway. I was excited and began to publish photos taken in the next trips. As a result, some photos gained only a few dozen of views, and some - up to 5000 or more views. And what is surprising - the photos are quite ordinary and not a top-notch sights, but something like some ordinary pre-revolutionary house in some Sebezh, or a sunset in the Baltic Sea, shot from the deck of the ferry.
I would hardly think that it is necessary to add information about objects in Google maps. But the Local Guide itself regularly invites me to add this information during trips and for which the points are awarded. And as a result, due to tens of thousands of views of my photos, due to the accrued points for adding information to Google Maps, I unexpectedly became a 6th level expert and received an invitation to Connect Live 2020. I did not know anything about this event. I don’t know what the chances of applicants are to win a trip to this event, but if you are lucky, it will be a memorable event for life.
This is the role which Local Guide program plays in my life.
