When sharing on Google Maps or even when reading reviews from other guides about a place, I like to pay attention to the little details because they matter, indeed. As Local Guides, it’s important to put ourselves in the position of people searching for information and anticipate what they want to know.
For example, here are some basic things Local Guides can include in reviews to help the public:
Restaurants - operating hours, must-try items in the menu, vegetarian options (if any). Is there a kiddie meal? How about a baby chair? Is the toilet and eating space accessible to people with disability?
Bars - is there a smoking area? How about a separate room for private parties? What is the tipping policy?
In my reviews, I try to adopt a conversational style while being candid about my impressions. A Google review should be regarded as an opportunity to praise or suggest improvements needed in a business establishment, if any. We can always cite our experience as a customer - what made us happy or what we feel are the areas they can improve on. In any case, it is important to be factual always.
