The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool may not appear in its true length from this perspective shot from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial but it is almost half a mile walk along its mesmerizingly cool blue waters. The sidewalks are wide enough to accommodate even a wheelchair so that people of all ages and also the differently-abled can enjoy the serene and peaceful surroundings and the joy of walking in a traffic-free locality.
There were ducks in the shallow water of the reflecting pool. I had never seen anything like it and a long walk but well worth all the lovely views, especially on a warm June afternoon. For a brief moment, I sat under a tree on the sloping lawns to just relax.
What’s not to love in the area surrounding the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool - great views, nice exercise with a nice experience while you marvel at its crystal beauty, and a perfect place to slow down as you hop between the monuments and museums in the Nation Mall area in DC.
