The Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC

The Lincoln Memorial is on the other end of the 2.5-mile walk starting from the US Capitol Building. There are plenty of interesting places in between and the Lincon Memorial is the culmination point built honoring the 16th President of the United States.

It is a fantastic place to go, and a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Be prepared to walk for long distances if you are visiting after starting form the Capitol Hill but this place is very close to the White House side. There are no entry fees nor any waiting area or lines to stand in. The monument is open from the front like a temple in India and anyone can visit and take photos by following appropriate distancing.

I was blown away by the sheer size of the statue after I stepped into this memorial. Having seen this tourist spot often in movies and TV programs but I really experienced the magic of this place by being in the presence of this great space. It was on my bucket list and I truly am happy that I was able to tick this off.

There wasnтАЩt too much of a crowd by Indian standards and the weather was amazing though on a bit warmer side as evident from the skimpy clothes of fellow tourists mostly local or from European countries.

The Lincoln Memorial appears much like a Greek temple and as I walked up the steps I noticed the distinct change in the quality of the building material. The statue of Lincoln is huge and looks like he is about to step down and walk out.

The view across the reflecting pool to the Washington monument is great especially in the morning when I was there.

Hey @TusharSuradkar

The outsides of the memorial reminds me of our Asiatic library in Mumbai. The statue is surreal and loved the words inscribed above. Also, great post and pictures    LincolnтАЩs journey inspires me to Never Give Up. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Thank you, @MayuriKubal

I looked up The Asiatic Society of Mumbai and indeed it has a Greek influence in the appearance and since founded by the British in an era between 1803 to 1873, it seems they have also modeled the building on European architecture.

Indeed @TusharSuradkar Also, the Churchgate and Fort side area in Mumbai is highly inspired by European architecture.
