The Holy Delhi 2-Birla Mandir & Prasadam

Laxmi Narayan Temple, also known as Birla Mandir, is one of Delhi’s major temples and a major tourist attraction. Built by the industrialst Sh. J.K. Birla in 1939, it has a grand architecture. It’s a tribute to various deities.

The temple is dedicated to Laxmi Narayan ji. On Sundays it’s open till 10 pm through out the day and doesn’t close during noon time.

This is a quiet and calm Buddhist temple adjacent to the Birla Mandir.

The temple is quite big and there is a nice garden too. There is ample paid parking and a nice open outlet by the name of Prasadam Food & Snacks inside of the parking area. This parking is at the end of the lane adjacent to the Buddhist temple. There is a beautiful cave with a shivling too.

You could hear the chants of Hanuman Chalisa.

We went early morning. cameras and mobiles are not allowed inside the temple and can’t take any photographs. There is a nice park in the premises itself. Prasadam outlet serves nice samosas and tea. Crowd started pouring in after 9.30 am. Shoe house is outside.

I visited here in 2002 with a friend, and we were all like @27 years old that time.

My friend had visited the temple even earlier, when he was in the 5th standard, along with his parents.

All he remembered was the little elephant statue from his childhood visit.

When we were there in 2002, he was desperately looking out for the little elephant statue.

Finally, after a lot of exploring around, when we found that statue, my friend was so happy, he almost cried.

People have great memories with the Birla Temple

@TusharSuradkar yes I guess we all have beautiful memories of this place like you said. It’s so emotional looking for that one memory stamped in our mind & to be able to find it. I used to visit here from my school ..that time there was a tonga to take us to school and back.

This time for my birthday am thinking to visit my nursery school and the hospital where I was born
