We Local Guides are always busy rating places, writing reviews, checking accessibility, and adding new locations. But sometimes, while wandering through streets and alleys, we spot something that instantly puts a huge smile on our faces!
And India is truly in a league of its own—the desi ingenuity and creativity found in shop names, dhaba slogans, and street signs is unlike anything else in the world! During my Local Guide journey, I came across some quirky and amusing signs that made me laugh out loud—and I just had to snap a photo immediately.

Usually, public toilets have rather boring signboards outside. But in some places, people are so creative that they write things on the signs that make you chuckle! When I saw this sign, I couldn’t help but wonder—who came up with this idea?
The unique swagger of dhabas: "I Love PEHALWAN DHABA" 
You’ve likely heard of fancy restaurant and café names, but the talent behind our desi dhabas is on a whole different level! Just look at this sign—“I Love Pehalwan Dhaba”! Seeing a name written with such confidence and affection tells you right away that the food here is going to be amazing. The shop’s name itself has a distinct personality!
Quirky and amusing names
Whether it’s a bizarre translation or a funny warning written outside, these little details make the daily routine of mapping so much fun. This goes to show that being a Local Guide isn’t just about the task at hand—it’s also about enjoying the local culture and the humor around you!
