Dear Local Guides and Google Maps Lovers,
This is announcing the removal of the following and followers feature on Google maps. I’m sure we all saw that notification that says; Following will no longer be available from Sept 2025. I can confirm from my ends that on Tuesday 16th of September it’s finally gone.
Although it’s not something I am proud of,yet we will miss it one way or the other. I believe it’s better gone. We don’t want Google maps to become another social media. Some local guides are proud of it but it has lost it’s use.
I was following 34 local guides but had 5,871 followers. I wasn’t for follow me and I follow you back. I only followed those I knew and I trust. I Wonder what is your opinion about this feature removal. I’ll be happy to hear your comments and discussions below.
