The City’s Official FIFA World Cup 2026 fan zone, the "Lisboa Football Arena"

Dear fellow local guides and football fans!
I hope you’re doing great.

If you are going to be in Lisbon, Portugal this summer, I have some exciting news to share! From June 11, 2026 to July 19, 2026, the iconic Terreiro do Paço is transforming into the City’s Official FIFA World Cup 2026 fan zone, the Lisboa Football Arena.

Whether you are a die-hard football fan or just looking to soak up the incredible atmosphere that Lisbon offers during major tournaments, this is the place to be. Here is everything you need to know to plan your visit:

Event Highlights
  • Location: Terreiro do Paço (Praça do Comércio)
  • Dates: June 11 – July 19, 2026
  • Experience: A massive giant screen brings the stadium atmosphere to the waterfront.
  • Entry: Completely free!
  • Schedule: Matches are broadcast daily. Note that the venue opens 1 hour before kickoff and closes 1 hour after the final whistle. On Portugal :portugal: match days, the doors open 2 hours before kickoff.
Accessibility & Amenities The venue is designed to be inclusive and comfortable:
  • Facilities: Portable restrooms :restroom: are available on-site.
  • Dining: You are in the heart of the Baixa district, surrounded by numerous restaurants :fork_and_knife: and cafés :hot_beverage:.
  • Accessibility: The site is set up to ensure access :wheelchair_symbol: for all fans.
Important Security & Entry Rules

To ensure a safe environment for everyone, please note the following restrictions at the entrance:

  • Prohibited Items: It is strictly forbidden to bring glass items, cans, weapons, tools, fireworks, aerosol sprays, megaphones, or sports balls (footballs/basketballs).
  • General Rule: Avoid bringing any objects that could cause injury or facilitate acts of violence.
  • Privacy Notice: Please be aware that this location is subject to video and sound recording for promotional purposes.
How to get there

Arriving by Metro :metro:

  • Station: Use the Estação de Metro Terreiro do Paço.
  • Line: This station is served by the Blue Line (Linha Azul).
  • Convenience: Once you exit the station, you will be directly at the edge of the square, placing you immediately within the heart of the event area.
  • Walking: If you are staying in the Baixa, Alfama, or Chiado neighborhoods, the square is easily accessible on foot.

I visited in person today, June 10th, at noon, to review the details, and I have shared a photo album with you. I will be adding more photos to this album later.

  • Why you should visit:  :red_question_mark:
Praça do Comércio is already the heart of Lisbon, but during the World Cup :trophy:, the energy :battery: is unmatched. It is the perfect spot to experience the collective excitement of the crowd, enjoy the summer weather right by the Tagus River, and connect with fellow football :soccer_ball: enthusiasts from all over the world :globe_showing_europe_africa:.

If you are planning to head down for one of the Portugal :portugal: matches, I highly recommend arriving a bit early to grab a good spot near the screen!

Keep contributing, and remember to stay safe!

@Roman_Ahmmed . Lovely share. Unfortunately despite being a large nation of football fans in India we never had a FIFA fan zone

Thank you so much for the kind words! @TusharSuradkar, dada.

It’s a very large square, and the weather was very sunny yesterday; maybe that’s why the picture turned out so well.

Since it was a work in progress at the time, I had to take the image myself from a distance.

Thank you, @curatorofmemory, dada.

I’m sorry to hear that. It is truly unfortunate that such a passionate football :soccer_ball: loving nation hasn’t had an official FIFA fan zone.
