I WENT TO KNOW ONE OF THE BIGGEST FAVELAS IN BRAZIL, ROCINHA.

The local guide @gilmarjuniorfernandes called me to tour Rocinha and get to know one of the biggest favelas in Brazil.
Rocinha is located in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro and is located between the São Conrado and Gávea districts. The name comes from a farm, a “roça” which, in the 1920s, was taken over by the expansion of the urban area in 1927. Rural producers used the expression “VEM DA ROCINHA” a lot
Currently, Rocinha has more than 250 thousand residents and the number of houses, shacks and tufts has been growing a lot, creating a great lack of social and public policies and basic sanitation. BUT WITH ALL THESE PROBLEMS THE PEOPLE LIVE THERE WITH DETERMINATION AND A SMILE ON THE FACE.
The guide @gilmarjuniorfernandes took me to know some alleys and alleys, I could see a lot of graffiti art on the walls, a lot of art with a pet bottle and a lot of willpower, people coming and going, people getting haircuts, small grocery stores, candy stores, delivery people , many restaurants, snack bar etc.
EVERYTHING IS WITHIN ROCINHA: Want Japanese food? HAVE Want forró? HAVE
They have a fair that runs every day! THIS IS PERFECT.
What I was most astonished is that Rocinha has a very solid business, such as Casas Bahia, banks, lotteries and many service stores. IT’S A TRUE CITY WITHIN A CITY!
To eat I went to a sensational restaurant that has a great barbecue and first class service. The name of the restaurant is @sabornabrasarocinha @rio4food’s staff had already recommended them to me and I went to check it out and I really liked it… IF YOU CALL THE PHOTOS!!
Note: I had a lot of prejudice against Rocinha, but after seeing the comings and goings up close, seeing people struggling to conquer theirs and always with joy and determination on their faces, I saw that we are all in the same boat and we always need the same things. BEING RICH OR POOR WE NEED LOVE, HAPPINESS AND DIGNITY.
