I want to write a review after I went to this place. But somehow I forgotten. So First of all You are a nature lover and hiker lover, this is the best place for you. Ambuluwawa is a biodiversity complex and Sri Lanka’s first multi-religious sanctuary situated in Gampola. Ambuluwawa is situated approximately 1,965 feet from the level of Gampola town and approximately 3560 meters above sea level. Ambuluwawa is most one of the attracted place in Sri Lanka. A Study was carried out in this forest from 23rd January to 20th February 2003 by the University of Sri Jayawadenepura, Sri Lanka in which 29 endemic species were found in the Ambuluwawa Mountain.
You can come with any vehicle to the vehicle park. But only bikes, tuk-tuks, and some light vehicles are allowed from the main entrance gate.
After parking your vehicle, you can see the name board from your left angle. So go that way. After you start to walk, you can see the main cafeteria.
So first refresh your body and have some shorties with a coke bottle. After refreshments go straight to the main entrance gate. You can buy tickets from there. I didn’t remember how much for a foreigner but the local adult price is 90 rupees. You can’t take any polytene with you because the main gate doesn’t allow it. You have two options, you can walk or hire a tuk-tuk for 1200 rupees. Personally, I choose to walk because if you walk to the top you can see and capture magnificent views of nature. But if you have some physical problems or feel exhausted, I recommend the tuk-tuk. If you are willing to walk get some short biscuits and a water bottle. It will help you a lot though out the walk.
It’s almost 2 or 3 kilometers to the top garden. So there are some rest points located within every 500 meters. You can stay some minutes there to breathe some fresh air. When you came to the last miles you can see some buddha statues, some Devi statues, and people sitting on the fences. After reaching your destination go through the wheel gate attach to the main gate.
Now you can see Ambuluwawa temple and the beautiful tower.
You can also see that there are so many people climbing the tower.
So turn to the right and go near the white concrete fence. Right there you can see some beautiful city view. So after taking pictures and videos you can start your journey. Go through the wide open door and take the staircase. You have to climb so many staircases throughout the walk. Even when walking on staircases if you feel you want some rest there are some cages and some balconies in there.
The first staircases are located inside the tower. After the inside staircases are finished you have to walk on the outside staircases. Those staircases go roundly to the top of the tower. In the first round, you have some giant staircases but when you climb even higher your staircases are going down to the smaller ones. If any traffic happens you can take the cages as a solution. So go in there and when traffic stops you can start your journey again. After You reached the top of the tower you can see one of the best sceneries in all around the world. Take some pictures and videos and if you have a drone I think it’s the best way to capture these sceneries.
I think if you are living in any country in this world you have to watch and feel this nature. It’s quite amazing
