The 3-Hour Trek to Bomod-ok Falls in Sagada (Day 21/365)

The Bomod-ok falls of Sagada Mountain Province is one of the main tourist attraction in the area especially for adventure seekers. The reason for this is that before you even get to the waterfalls and be amazed of its majestic view, you will have to trek across a community, down and up the mountain and through the rice fields. The total trek time would be 3 hours going to the falls and another 3 hours going back to the staging area.

As they say the exciting part is the journey, not the destination. As you hike to the falls you will experience going down an almost 70 degrees steep stairs and it is so steep and so far down that your legs might develop cramps. So when hiking here, you should go slowly and carefully and move at an even pace. There are small stores that sell water and food along the way but it is also advisable to bring your own food and water.

You also are not allowed to hike on your own, at the staging area you must register and a tour guide will be provided for you and they will take you through this journey to bomod-ok falls as they also provide you with information about the different places that you will pass through along the way.

When you finally reach Bomod-ok falls you are given enough time to enjoy the view or swim at the bottom of the water falls, so bring your swimsuit if you intend to experience the waters of Bomod-ok falls.

In going back, the tour guide will ask you if you want the easy way or the difficult way back to the staging area, the hike time is almost the same however if you chose the easy way the difference is you will exit to a jeepney station where you can rent a jeepney (vehicle) to take you back to the staging area, the best part about this is you can ride at the top of the jeepney to have a good view of the mountains of Sagada. If you chose the difficult way, remember the 70 degrees climb down? You must now climb up that pathway and stairs which is going to be unpleasant especially if you are really tired from hiking and swimming at the falls.

The question is, is it worth it? Is it worth visiting considering that there are other places which you can visit in Sagada? Yes definitely it is worth it, just make sure you allot a day just for this experience.
