The 250 point haircut

Yesterday I went for a haircut - what I typically do at a hairdresser in a shopping center nearby. because you can go there without making an appointment. I then ask them to clean up the mess that has grown on top of me in the 6 to 8 weeks since the previous visit. And becasue I am not a big fan of waiting (which is of course the risk that comes with selecting a hairdresser where no appointment is needed), I have found a life hack that solves this problem too: as most types of shops in the mall only open at 10:00 AM, but the hairdresser already opens at 9:00 AM, there’s usually no waiting time whatsoever on Saturday mornings at 9. This was also the case yesterday, so I was looking more or less decent again (the hair was looking great, the rest I leave to your judgement) at around 9:30.

As I wanted to visit some of the other shops in the mall as well, I decided to spend the remaining half hour by checking if any local guide activity was needed in the shopping center. After all, it had been quite a while since I had spent time there (I’m really so fed up with this mask-business that I actually avoid shopping these days unless it’s absolutely needed).

:bulb: Tip
There is no such thing as a point in time where you can’t be doing local guides stuff. These days you usually have your smartphone with you everytime and everywhere, and the Maps app is sitting there on it, waiting patiently until you decide to put it to use by checking some facts, answering some questions or simply roam around some area of the map in search of things to improve.

And that half hour was extrmely well spent and grew into an hour and a half, as I noticed quite quickly that LOADS of stuff was in need of editing. Not only were some closed buisnesses still on the map, but 4 new ones were even not yet listed. And more importantly: tons were located at an incorrect spot. Perhaps this was due to the fact that sometime last year the indoor mapping for the shopping center was gone and that it now had returned, possible placing a fair amount of the shops at 1 particular ā€˜default’ spot (a gas station outside the mall).

When I then returned home, I noticed that all but 1 of the suggested edits had alreasdy been approved (one is pending: a change of the ā€œLocated inā€ for one of the shops, but that type of edits always seems to go pending for me - although the ā€œLocated inā€ info was accepted for the new place I added), and then decided to add some more points by completing further details of the places I had just added. And those were also all approved algorithmically.

:bulb: Tip
Adding info afterwards will earn you extra points. When you enter e.g. the website during the place creation, there are no addtional points for that, you just get the 15 points for adding the place. When you then add the website after the place creation has been approved, this will bring you another 5 points.

Adding that all up, you could therefore say that the visit to the hairdresser led to earning some 250 points :sunglasses:

@JanVanHaver

I first thought the haidresser had a special offer for Local Guides :joy: :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Nice effort and good lessons.

But comeon! Only 250 from working an hour and a half! I’m sure you did earn more points than that :grin:

Cheers

Not to worry @MortenCopenhagen I am also preparing another post on a new thing I stumbled across, which can get you 300 points in 10 minutes… In a rules-abiding way of course. Stay tuned :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
