These are two short films from Thrissur Pooram festival. This is also an excellent (& unique) example of, how this Big animal/s (in hundreds) behaves with hundreds of thousands of human beings, who are hypnotically enjoying the mythical environment, filled with the sound of Panchavadyam (Hundreds of artists performing for hours). - 7 days are just 7 seconds for most of them…
The first film (3 mins) is that one of the Tallest (Largest) Gaja Raja (Elephant) comes out of the Vadakkumnathan Temple, by opening the South Gopuram, to ‘Announce’ the starting of Trissur Pooram Festival. This witnessed by thousands of devotees and guests. Note: How friendly the people are around the elephant.
The second short film is a brief of the Thrissur Pooram festival (Fire works not included) & the ambiance within a very short time; I hope this will give you a very basic idea.
NOTICE: I express my gratitudes to M/s ARN Media & Kerala Tourism, whose shots also have reflected in this video. (form open source)
NOTE: In order to keep the size of the video file compact, the video quality has suffered – hope you all will excuse me for the same. (I am not good at YouTube; will try later)
Whoaaa! So much love & involvement of public! Majestic grandeur of graceful Gaja Rajas is superb. The soul warming, invigorating orchestra made my heart jump… lovable cultural celebration. I wish I can attend this amazing holy festival someday …
“…soul warming, invigorating orchestra …” that too for hours … mesmerizing!!! True…
“… wish I can attend this amazing holy festival someday…” you are always welcome, dear friend @GhazalaShah to God’s own country, the state with the richest temple of the world.
Thank you for sharing these videos with us. Photos are perfect, but through videos we can hear the sound, the music and really feel the atmosphere of the festival, I really appreciate it.
Thanks for tagging me, I really liked the videos. It’s the kind of festival I’d love to attend for sure. I personally love this traditional things. The elephant is magnificent =) I’ve never seen one close, have you?
I have a question tho, I could not see any women there. Was it only my impression or they are not allowed to attend it?
