Telunjuk Raung Family Camp out

Last weekend (14-15 May), me and my family was going to a campout at Telunjuk Raung Waterfall Camping Ground in the Songgon District, Banyuwangi Regency. It is located around 40 km from the Banyuwangi City Center. This was my first campout after so many years (I think the last one was when I sat in the Junior High School, a long time ago). That day was not only my family doing the camp out, but several teachers from my dad’s institution also came along. It makes that camp out really well prepared (tent, electricity, kitchen sets, also just like any other Indonesian local travellers: we have a lot of foods :v).

We’ve started our journey at 3 PM from my home to the site. It was nearly two hours journey mostly through the main road (Kabat bypass, Rogojampi ring road, and songgon district main road: around 30 km). Until we’ve been finally reach the final 10 kilometers mostly unpaved road around Bayu Kidul’s plantation. Of course it’s a camp out journey, we would expect that kind of road, right? But, it was worthed with the surrounding views!

Around 5 PM, we have been landed onto the Telunjuk Raung’s camping ground. The site was massive, I think more than 20 cars could fitted there. After prepared all of our camping stuffs, then we took Maghrib’s prayer.

It was a really clear night with a beatiful full moon on top of us. Because our main agenda is to camp outside, I’ve rid of my phone so my focus is just to enjoy the night with families and just a little bit of photos taken.

[The next day]

As the sun arise from the east, we can see the majestic sunrise from the eastern most city in Java Island (you can also look to Bali Island!). At the west side, you can see stunning mountains across the Banyuwangi western border. It was a really nice experience hanging out in the nature.

That morning, we had a warm-up session because all of the kids is going to swim in the pool right below us. But, I’m going to do a “private” geowalk that I’m going to tell you in the next story. Then, at 11 AM, all of our stuffs are loaded back to our car and return back home.

Alright then, that’s all of my family camp out story. Stay tune for my geowalk journey at the Telunjuk Raung Waterfall :slightly_smiling_face:

Sure, I really enjoyed the view and atmosphere at the camp out. And it’s getting colder after 7 PM until sunrise (somehow i’ve forgot to bring my jacket  ). You can read my experience about the waterfall geowalk here: Local Guides Connect - Telunjuk Raung Geowalk - Local Guides Connect. Hope you love it!
