[#TeamIndia] Kelshi : Beautiful & Untouched Beach in Maharashtra (Undiscovered Treasure)

Hello guys and welcome to my state of Maharashtra, India.

If you have not recognized it, this is the state where #Mumbai is. This is the state which is known in History for Emperor Shivaji (Maharaj). This is the entry and exit point for most of international and domestic travelers. Luckily state is blessed with 720 Km stretch of coastline. This area is known as “Konkan”. Today I want to take you to one of the cleanest and untouched beaches in this region.

Lets pack our bags & Start our journey to ‘Kelshi Beach’

Location (Map) wise this is very close to #Mumbai and #Pune. And best way to reach here is by car. You have public transport available (State Transport buses) but personal transport is recommended. Roads are narrow and not in very good condition due to changing weather, which makes driving difficult, but what you get to see at your destination is cool, calm and refreshing view of nature.

Once you reach, you have plenty of options for accommodation. But personally I will recommend you to take a Homestay. These are close to beach, cost effective, homelike environment; these people are very much welcoming and happy to serve you. There’s a saying in India “Atithi Devo Bhava” which translates to ‘Guest is a God’. Indians consider it a huge honor to have guests in their home, they go out of the way to please them. Their hospitality will please you for sure giving altogether different and happy memories. Greenery, fresh air, calm and quiet mornings, beautiful sunset with sun kissing sea waters, amazing spread of light across the skies will make your experience more enchanting.

The best part of home stays is undoubtedly delicious home cooked food. It allows you to understand the local cuisine. This tastes much better than any good restaurant and on top of it, you can request them to make changes as per your choice. You can even enjoy bonfire. If you like, you can make barbeque because the kind of environment you get there is something special. Peace and those winds will definitely give you the chilling feeling.

You are allowed to drink (alcohol), but don’t create nuisance. (Drink responsibly)

Let me take you to the beach now. As I have already told you, this is one of the cleanest and untouched beaches in the region, you will be mesmerized to look at the stretch of flat beach. Over 2.5 Km of serene natural beach. Away from hustle and bustle of everyday life. Perfectly hidden treasure behind the dense forest and narrow roads make it difficult to discover. Not many people know about this beach. This place is perfect getaway for photography.

Not even a piece of paper or plastic littered around in complete stretch of beach. Just the sound of water and birds chirping in your ears. Such places are gifts of nature, it is our responsibility to keep them pollution free and allow others to enjoy. There is not a single shop on beach. That’s one more reason for this uncrowded place.

These two photos give you a view of overall length and width of beach towards north and south direction covering entire beach. There’s literally no one on beach to disturb your privacy. Also you can see, the beach is covered by high trees to hide itself.

And if there’s no one to disturb you, child inside you pops up and there begins the unlimited fun and nonsense part . May it be water, sand, mud or teasing sun, nothing can stop you.

If you have plenty of time with you, You can take a look at these nearby Attractions :

  1. Mahalakshmi Mandir (Temple)
  2. Yaqub Baba Dargah
  3. Naturally formed big sand dune (due to Tsunami)
  4. Anjarle Beach
  5. Harnai Port
  6. Suvarnadurga Fort.

Hope you all will like this post from #TeamIndia members. Expecting your good suggestions and comments. Thank You!!

I would like to know more about such beaches in your state or country. Kindly let me know Which ones are your favourite.?

Is lovely that you have shared a bit of the coastal area in India, as when people think" India", they think about a cultural place more than a place with beaches. :slightly_smiling_face:

Extremely happy to see such a wonderful post !!! LG @Vinay_K

As rightly mentioned by our @ErmesT , reading this post gives a really wonderful feel!..

What I liked more is the “Traveler-Style” of your narration… Very good!!

Photos are not only good, but are also contextual! :+1:

Appreciate your hints given to the visitors… Hm… really impressive - Keep it up.

"… there’s no one to disturb you, child inside you pops up… " I liked this photo - The photo & the caption are in full sync.

Giving Sl. No: to your photos will help us to refer it in a simpler way - kindly do it future.

Hope to see more from you…

I am anxious to know:

How much time were you there?

Went with family or friends?

Who is that person to whom you are giving ‘Mud Bath?’

All the best…

@Vinay_K , what a post, your post is so interesting, I would definitely plan to visit this place. Konkan is indeed blessed with serene beauty, it’s long coastline has many hidden gems/beaches which are rarely explored. Although I frequently visit konkan, my choices were well known Ganaptipule, Murud/kashid and Diveagar in same region. Would now have another option. Kudos from Team Mumbai.

@Shrut19 ,this post reminded me of our Gorai beach meetup.

Wow what a wonderful post. A very good and neat write up. Doesn’t seem like a first post. Your photos are very beautiful.

Yes, as you told a beach is really an enjoyable place. We enjoy a lot in beach. If it rains, it is still more enjoyable.

@chootube #India has over 7500Km of coastline. I have travelled a small part of it.

Believe me many beaches are untouched. India is beautiful beyond what people tell you. There are many hidden places that are yet to be shown to world. here with #TeamChallange we are doing small efforts to put up our information in front of our community.

Hi @Vinay_K

I could understand your panic. The same problem happened twice to me. The moment I posted my post has vanished. Just can’t explain how we feel that time.

Hi @Vinay_K

What a post man… Well written and I am actually adding this place to my “Want to Go” list on maps… After visiting the New Jampore Beach in Daman, this might be known but most uncrowded beach…

I loved that fish… #BengaliConnection
