Tarash Bhaban A 400 years old Archeological site At Pabna

Tarash Bhaban is located at Golappur in the Pabna district of Bangladesh. A special archeological site located on Hamid Road. A unique immortal masterpiece of aesthetic beauty and architecture of Pabna city, this building is also known to many as Rajbari of Tarash. Banamali Roy Bahadur Tarash Bhaban, the largest zamindar of Pabna, erected the building in the 1800s.

Tarash Bhavan is an ancient Greek architrave or architrave of two stories and rectangular in nature. The double storey of this building consists of four symmetrical circular pillars connected. The building is 30.40 meters (100 ft) in length and 18.28 meters (60 ft) in width. The building has an impressive two-storied portico surmounted by four Corinthian columns.

The main heritage of Tarash Bhavan is its huge entrance arch which is Rai Bahadur Gate. In front of this palatial building, there are four pillars on each side of the entrance arch and a huge semi-circular arch in the middle. It is said that Banamali Raya had 2 elephants and the entrance archway was constructed so massively that the elephants did not obstruct the archway. In the late 19th century Tarash Bhavan was declared as an archaeological site and the site is currently under the responsibility of the Department of Archeology (now Pabna Municipality).
