I have been lucky enough to visit this National Park which is mostly known for its Tree Climbing Lions and World high density of Elephants. The Park is in 190 Kilometers from Kilimanjaro Airport and 135 Kilometers from Arusha Airport. It remains the most affordable choice if you can’t make it to the Famous Serengeti National Park.
It is home to the African Big Four animals which are Elephants, Lions, Buffaloes and Leopard and its a guarantee to see elephants and buffaloes among others and if you are lucky enough lions and leopard will be a jackpot in just one day. But i would recommend to plan at least two days to get the most of it. Good visiting time is the dry season where you can easily cross the Tarangire river and this is a good time because Most animals concentrate by the river for fresh water, Also this will be to avoid river flooding in the rainy season
Other resident animals includes different birds species, water-bucks, giraffes, dik-dik, impalas, elands, Grant’s gazelle and velvet monkeys.
The visit is generally well organized by Touring companies and there are Camping sites within the park. This is one of the places i would happily revisit if i had the opportunity.
