Tanjong Gemok Beach in Port Dickson, Malaysia

Port Dickson is an important tourist destination in Malaysia. Maps location (https://goo.gl/maps/KZo1CMUuReSjEEos8). It is located about 90km away from Kuala Lumpur city. And on car, one can reach this place in about 1 hour 20 minutes. The beauty of Port Dickson is in the many beaches and natural attractions and food.

I haven’t been to Port Dickson in the longest time. The last time I came to visit was probably over 10 years ago. Last weekend, I had taken time off and drove here. This is one of the beaches that I have visited. It’s called Pantai Tanjong Gemok (https://goo.gl/maps/EpDwqJcwEZJmErYF9 ). Literally translated into the beach of the fat cape. I have no idea about the significance of the name. But it is one of the more quieter beaches around in Port Dickson, north of the main town.

[Picture above] The beach itself is located between a very popular resort and the coastal power station. Hence probably why less people may prefer to come here, due to the vicinity of the power station. It is a fairly short stretch of beach, about 250m long. Fine light brown sand feels comfortable on the feet, although marred by all the black bits that appears at the edge of the waters, which the waves deposit on the shore.

[Picture above] There are covered rest areas along the short beach, with seating and rubbish bins. And many thick luscious trees providing good shade and greenery for the area.

[Picture above] The time when I visited was the afternoon time, and so, the beach was almost empty. Besides it was also during Ramadan when most locals are fasting.

[Picture above] The fairly clean waters, with the strong winds and sound of waves crashing to shore, makes this quite a nice place to just hang out and stare into the ocean.

[Picture above] It’s great that the some business vendors are providing bicycle rentals along the beach, for visitors to explore the surrounding area.

[Picture above] These signboard appear all along the many Port Dickson beaches about all the prohibited activities in the area. To ensure everyone who visit have a great experience.

This is one of the quieter beaches along Port Dickson. A good place to have a quiet time. Will share the other beaches in separate posts.

Hi @StephenAbraham

Vietnam is near your country but i still have not had opportunity to visit…

I hope I travel to Malaysia in near future.

This natural beauty should be preserved and kept clean. I am really sad because some beaches in Vietnam are dirty and have garbage from resident area flow to!!!

Thanks for your sharing with us!!!

Hi abang @StephenAbraham
