In 2023, I hurried to Tangua Haor without making any prior plans, even though I just had an hour to spare. At 11 p.m., the bus departed and arrived in Sunamganj at 6 a.m. My inspiration for Tanguare Hour came from Google and YouTube.We learned more about Tanguar Haor when we took the bus there. Tanguar Haor, one of the most attractive and environmentally significant wetlands in the nation, has been named a Ramsar Site—an internationally recognized distinction for significant wetlands. The environment of Tanguar Haor is distinct and varied, consisting of a mix of marshes, floodplains, and wetlands. The Haor can swell to more than twice its dry-season size during the monsoon season when it is flooded with water.
.We took a houseboat ride out of Tahirpur to see the breathtaking beauty of Tangua Haor. We first arrived at Hijal Forest, one of Tanguar Haor’s tourist attractions. From the watchtower there, we could get glimpses of the Meghalayan mountains spanning Tanguar Haor. After that, we headed to Niladri Lake, a well-known tourist destination that was once a limestone mining lake. The lake’s stunning blue colour The lake has an otherworldly beauty due to the water, mountains, and little hills surrounding it. We departed for Sunamganj prior to dusk, capping off an amazing day.
