Hello, Local Guides,
I’m back after a short break, as most of my friends who follow me on social media know that I was in traveling or I can say exploring one of my favorite destinations
Yes… it was not other than Turkey ![]()
It was like a dream trip for me when I decided to explore Turkey like a local. That’s a long story, and I will share it in different episodes on connect.
Last month as in previous years we came to know that @PaulPavlinovich initiated aGlobal 36 Photo walk again this year, and I recalled some beautiful memories in mind when on 23rd march 2019, I hosted one of the biggest local guides meet-ups in Pakistan Local Guides Community’s history in Karachi, and it was a 36 Photo Walk 2019.
This year, I decided to host a photo walk in Istanbul and wanted to meet some Local Guides from Turkey.
The date of my meet-up was 23rd May, just a day before when I was going to leave Turkey for my home country.
And the meeting time was 7:00 pm Turkish time.
As usual, I reached the meeting point Taksim Square 20 minutes earlier and was so excited that maybe I’m going to meet some Local guides today, but after a long wait till 07:30 I started a photo walk alone and started taking photos of the Famous Taksim Square & Taksim Masjid.
Let me share a little about this famous place in Istanbul.
Taksim Square is situated in the Beyoglu district in the European part of Istanbul. It’s a major tourist and leisure district famed for its restaurants, shops, and hotels. It is considered the heart of modern Istanbul, with the central station of the Istanbul Metro network and also the start of the famous Istiklal Street. And Istiklal Street extends from Taksim Square to the Karakoy area, which is one of the most famous streets of Istanbul, and one of the oldest trams in the city breaks through it and goes back for about a hundred years. Most of the houses and buildings on the street and the old narrow alleys are distributed on its edges. The street contains religious places, such as the Saint Antuan Kilisesi Church and the Hossein Agha Mosque, and modern tourist places such as the famous “Madame Tussauds” wax museum, which was inaugurated about four years ago and includes wax statues of various Turkish and international celebrities. And a lot of Sweet shops, jewelry, restaurants, and other shopping places on this street, which ends at Historical Galata Tower.
So after capturing some nice photos, I walked towards Galata tower, which is about 4 kilometers far from Taksim Square VIA Istiklal Street .
Walking on Istiklal Street was an awesome experience for me, seeing people who are enjoying the arts of street artists, having fun in groups, and dancing on the guitars and drum beats was an experience that I can’t describe in words.
My 36 Photo walk ended at Majestic Galata Tower, where a lot of people were busy taking photos and making videos from the ground and some from the top of Galata Tower.
For me, it was a unique experience for a lifetime, because there I was alone, but In real I was so happy when I thought to share these all experience with my beautiful Local Guides Community, and was so glad that the all readers of my post will enjoy the virtual trip from Taksim Square To Galata Tower By Istiklal Street ![]()
