What is the Explore the Maps Challenge?
Every fortnight, we will share with you the icons and hints of famous places of any one country here. When you find that place, you have to answer it in the quiz given here. You have to choose the correct answer from the four options given below each question.
Country of this week’s challenge: Switzerland

Switzerland is a mountainous Central European country, home to numerous lakes, villages, and the high peaks of the Alps. Its cities contain medieval quarters, with landmarks like capital Bern’s Zytglogge clock tower and Lucerne’s wooden chapel bridge. The country is also known for its ski resorts and hiking trails. Banking and finance are key industries, and Swiss watches and chocolate are world-renowned. (Source: Google maps)

Here are some hints to find out places:
- Today, many visitors are attracted by the five stained glass windows prepared by Marc Chagall in the 1960s as well as by the rosette in the south transept. Another significant glass window is “The Heavenly Paradise” (1945) by Augusto Giacometti, the uncle of the famous Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti, in the north transept.
- According to legend, Charlemagne discovered the graves of the city’s patron saints Felix and Regula and had a church built as a monastery on the spot.
- The museum specializes in German medieval paintings and wood and stone sculpture, as well as later paintings by Zürich-area artists. It features the works of the noted Swiss artists Henry Fuseli and Alberto Giacometti.
- The Pavillon Le Corbusier is a Swiss art museum in Zürich-Seefeld at Zürichhorn dedicated to the work of the Swiss architect Le Corbusier.Iconic for its floating steel roof and brightly colored panels, the Pavillon Le Corbusier is the last building Le Corbusier designed before his death in 1965.
- It is a museum in Zürich, Switzerland, displaying Asian, African, American, and Oceanian art. It is the only art museum focusing on non-European art and design in Switzerland, in addition, the impressively staged temporary exhibitions attract worldwide attention, and are the largest to be run by the city itself. In 2007 it received approximately 157,000 visitors.
- The church is a museum today, but it is possible to perform worship services inside the church under the inspection of the Museum Management by obtaining a permit from the Office of the Provincial Governor.
- The museum building is the historicist style was built by Gustav Gull in the form of the French Renaissance city chateaus. His impressive architecture with dozens of towers, courts, and his astonishing park on a peninsula between the rivers Sihl and Limmat has become one of the main sights of the Old City District of Zurich.
- The steel observation tower is 72 m high and is located on the top of a mountain measuring 870 m above sea level. It is one of the highest publicly available observation towers in the country. It offers a panoramic view of Zurich and the surrounding Alps.
- It is one of the best in the world. It is alsohome of the International Opera Studio which is an educational program for young singers and pianists.Also, this is a famous performance hall, built in the late 19th century, which hosts frequent dramatic and musical events in Zurich, Switzerland.
