In November 2019, my friends took me to Mexico. We stayed at Campo Archelon, which is a highly recommended place in my opinion. They have multiple options, if you want bedding, washroom with hot water, kitchen, wi-fi etc. or if you just want to feel the solitude, enjoying the sea, sunrise, sunset and the chirping sound seagulls make.
We met the camp owner, Chicko and her brother and I spoke with them in Spanish which made them surprised and then bursting with emotions that an Indian guy all of a sudden started speaking their tongue. It was almost the first time that they were meeting any Indian. We discussed about our cultures, diversity and more importantly food. I wished I could bring back some authentic Mexican Food with me. I was especially impressed with the salsa. A major portion of my money was spent in Cheetos and Salsa made by a local lady.
Ricardo’s Driving Tours was our first choice when we wanted to swim with the Whale Sharks. Ricardo was an amazing person and had knowledge of the marine animals. They are working for their conservation and I was happy to learn more about them. At first, I wasn’t sure if I should go in the waters because I had only experience in swimming pool. Thanks to my friends who took care of me. We first practiced swimming under water with a peck of young Sea Lions, they are so curious creatures and flexible. I’ll never forget being there, seeing them.
Next, we went to swim with the Whale Sharks, they eat plankton, have white spots and as big as whales, but they actually are sharks. I realized that when I jumped from the boat, I directly landed on the Whale Shark and it got captured in camera. This was a moment of serendipity for me.
Visiting these remote places helps the traveler know more about the world and encourages the local community, making them grow financially and improve their life-style. Also, you would be helping in the conservation of marine animals as you inquire about their conservation programs. This part of Mexico felt me more like India except the phenomenal weather influenced by the ocean.
If I have to recommend you to any place in Baja California, spend your time here. Helping them grow, making their lives easier and you, yourself having the relaxed vacations.
Here I’m sharing the pictures of Camp Archelon and Ricardo’s Driving Tours in Bahia de los Angeles.
