Surprisingly delightful stay in a transit hotel inside Kempeguada International airport, Bengaluru - wonderful ambience and great food!
Hello Friends,
What if you get a surprisingly wonderful transit hotel within the airport when you need it the most! That’s what happened with us when my wife and I were travelling to Cochi from Pune via Bengaluru, we had a long layover of more than 8 hours during the night. We searched online and found about “Zero Eight Zero Transit Hotel” within the Bengaluru airport (Kempegauda International Airport) domestic side (level 02) just above Security check-in (level 01) as you enter. And being a local guide, I was very much surprised that it was not marked in Google Maps. So I didn’t lose the opportunity to add it! (not approved but )
We booked it online as soon as we came to know about the layover after the airlines rescheduled our direct flight. (which is pretty normal now!) We booked a Deluxe Double
With a double bed for 6 hours ( which is minimum). As soon as we called the hotel after arrival, we were escorted by the hotel person from the arrival lobby to the hotel. By using the lift we reached the hotel located at level 02 just above security check-in. There are different types of rooms available with the choices of services as per your convenience. You can find out here on their website. It was designed as per the latest trend and the ambience was really good.
Here you can see a welcome desk at the ground level near leftest end at arrival check in counters and signage of the same next to it. The elevator will take you directly into hotel lobby.
A view of the airport from the entrance lobby as soon as you get out of the elevator.
A small waiting area and a front desk for your service. A flight information digital board is also available for you to check the updates.
A very cosy dining area and a pathway to the rooms ( a small ramp allowing wheeled languages and wheelchairs too accessible to the room. (They have a special room for them as per their website, which is much appreciated.)
A small bar seating and tea and coffee vending machines available 24x7.
A view of the lobby with the rooms.
A variety of food options for breakfast, brunch or even dinner is available with extra cost if not included in your package. The rates are as per airport standards, a bit on the higher side. We ordered a very light one for both of us. A mysore masala dosa, a south indian favourite and aloo (potato) stuffed paratha and both were super delicious and with very less oil too.
Aloo paratha with curd, pickle and veg mix
Mysore masala dosa with sambar and coconut and tomato chutneys
Overall a wonderful experience for us. We were fresh in the morning to catch up on the ongoing flight.
Few TIPS:
- Weekend is rush hour for them as we experienced.
- Both domestic and international travellers can stay here.
- Online booking is preferable and accepts all types of payment options. Which also allows you to select combo packages like with food or without.
- There are no other food stalls nearby (only CCD - cafe coffee Day). Once you check in the hotel, you are not allowed to go outside the airport premises.
- It is a typical transit hotel and moderately expensive. We booked a Double Deluxe room only for Rs. 7375.00 incl. taxes (approx. 97 US dollars) for 12 hours. And our food we ordered was of Rs 800.00 ( approx. 10.80 US Dollars)
I have submitted the addition of the hotel into Google Maps from the exact location that night.
But unfortunately it did not get approved.
Please let me know if anything else I could do or any googler here can help me.
