Every locality, every gully in Kolkata, contains a part of our rich culture, a place of attraction and heritage with many beautiful stories.
In this City of Joy, there are lots of unseen parts, and as a local guide, I always try to highlight them by supporting their business by featuring them in the limelight.
Today I want to mention Jinjira Bazar, a huge market for fruits, vegetables, general stores, sweet shops, etc. The focus will be on the handmade murtis of Gods. We see the readymade murtis in markets and puja pandals, but somehow forget to support the hard work by hands behind it.
I have spoken with a few people who own small shops in the bazaar that sell murtis. I educate and empower them on how they can grow their business through Google Maps and attract & inform more customers about their work.
I saw that because of the recent and upcoming festivals like Poush Kali Puja and Saraswati Puja, they are making the murtis of Goddess Kali and Goddess Saraswati.
While going to the residential area, a few steps inside the market where they live, I found a lot of other murtis for sale. Some of them are for special order, and others will sell in this market.
As a local guide, I have tried my best to support them and support our culture. I also leave a review on Google Maps and will upload the photos as well, so that people can know that in this bazaar, murtis are also made and sold.
