June 7, 2025 โ A truly unforgettable day at the ๐๐ฎ๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ ๐
๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ with Helsinki Friends!
I joined their guided walk, and it was so much more than a tour โ it was an experience filled with fascinating history, panoramic sea views, and stories.
Just a short ferry ride from Helsinki, this UNESCO World Heritage Site completely amazed me. Not just with its massive stone walls, secret tunnels, and centuries-old cannons โ but with the quiet charm of its cobbled streets, colorful houses, and stunning sea views.
Built in the mid-1700s across several islands, Suomenlinna is more than a fortress โ itโs a symbol of resilience, cultural fusion, and strategic brilliance. What struck me most was how this place has gracefully evolved from a military stronghold into a peaceful home for artists, locals, and history lovers alike.
I stood there imagining soldiers guarding the coast, ships sailing past in battle formation โ and then looked around to see children laughing, people picnicking, and flying kites under the same skies.
Finland has this beautiful way of preserving history while making it accessible and alive โ and Suomenlinna is a shining example.
If youโre ever in Helsinki, donโt miss it. Take the ferry, bring a curious mind, and let yourself wander.
Iโm especially grateful to the Helsinki Friends team for creating such a warm and inclusive environment. Their passion, storytelling, and attention to detail made the day feel like a journey through time โ while connecting with fellow internationals along the way.
Have you been to Suomenlinna? What amazed you the most?
