“Sunset Views in Colombo You Shouldn’t Miss”

Watching the sunset is one of the most relaxing experiences in Colombo. As a Local Guide, I always look for peaceful places where I can enjoy the evening with a beautiful view. Here are some of my favorite sunset spots in the city.

:round_pushpin: Galle Face Green

This is one of the most popular places to enjoy the sunset. The wide open space, sea breeze, and street food make it a perfect spot for families and friends. Watching the sun go down here is truly unforgettable.

:round_pushpin: Wellawatte Beach

A quieter alternative to crowded areas, this beach is perfect if you want a calm and peaceful sunset experience. It’s also a great place for photography lovers.

Located in the heart of the city, Beira Lake offers a unique sunset view with reflections on the water and city lights starting to glow.

Each of these places gives a different feeling—from lively crowds to peaceful silence. Sunset time in Colombo is truly magical, and I always recommend visitors to experience at least one of these spots.

Visit around 5:45 PM – 6:30 PM for the best colors and don’t forget to bring your camera :camera_with_flash:

Whenever I see the word ‘Sri Lanka’ on Connect, it brings back beautiful memories from March 2019. That was when I participated in the Accessibility Walk organized by Sri Lankan Local Guides, my very first international Local Guides meetup. We were so busy working along Galle Face Road that I couldn’t capture proper sunset photos, but these photos remains one of my absolute favorites. Tagging my friends @IlankovanT and @ravindus here.
