It’s sunflower blooming season here in California. Dixon, CA is one of the places close to San Francisco Bay area, where you will find several sunflower farms. In fact we visited a Lavender farm yesterday (another post coming up on this!), we had the opportunity to stop by at one of the Sunflower farms. Fortunately this farm was in full bloom.
There is no fee to visit this farm, we were able to park the car on the street and able to capture few pictures.
It is better to visit close to the sunset, then you will be able to capture some interesting shots. Another tip carry a ladder or a step stool, this will help you to little above the level of sunflowers and capture the entire field.
Of course having a drone will also help, provided they allow you to fly drone near the farm.
Early/Mid June to end of July is a good bloom season. In fact one of the other farms we visited, was just starting blooming, probably it will take few more weeks there for a full bloom.
Watch out for bees, farm was full of bees!
Here is a shot which I captured in 2018 July, this was a different farm, but still in Dixon, CA. I was able to capture a sun burst with the sunflower. Used a Nikon D750 with a Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 lens to capture this
Here are some more assorted pictures which I captured yesterday using a Nikon D850 with a 24-70mm f2.8 Nikon lens.
