There is something special about summer evenings in Barth. Located on the beautiful Baltic Sea coast in northern Germany, right by the lagoon (the “Bodden”), this town is the perfect place to recharge. Lately, I’ve been spending more time just walking through our streets, and it’s the perfect way to recharge. The salty breeze, the way the light hits the old buildings, and that quiet, steady pace of life here—it really makes you appreciate the simple things.
If you’re visiting or just passing through, I’d love for you to see what makes this place stick with me:
The Harbor: Honestly, it’s my favorite spot. It’s where the town feels most alive. Grab a coffee or some fresh fish, sit by the water, and just watch the boats come and go.
The Old Town: It’s full of charm. Just pick a path and wander; the traditional architecture is beautiful this time of year.
The view from St. Marien Church: If you’re up for a few stairs, the view from the top is worth every step. You get a perfect look at the lagoon and the coast.
If you have the time, do yourself a favor and rent a bike or take a walk into the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park nearby. It’s wild, peaceful, and feels like a true escape into nature.
Barth isn’t a busy tourist trap, and that’s exactly why I love it. It’s a place to slow down and enjoy the summer. Hope you get a chance to experience it! ![]()
