A wall in Bucharest. A Hoover look on the face of this animal in the right corner is very interesting.
Bucharest - Zone 2
My post is about graffities, street art in form of wall writings, paintings and sculpturing.
Graffiti, a form of self expression in written or in form of paintings is popular since at least the Roman Empire. Some date it even back to the ancient Egyptian era. Back in that days, sometimes used to mark points of interests with secret signs to make places understand between communities of religious minorities.
Starting in the 70’s in NYC as a subculture, literally to bomb subways with paint, it made his way in the 90’s to Berlin which became globally the mecca of graffiti. After the fall of the iron curtain, many famous artists and crews made their way to the freshly united City of Berlin which exposed them enough empty walls (called wall of fame).
Sometimes showing the socioeconomic status of the citizens of a neighborhood, political opinions, expressions of oppressed feelings and outcry for movement; street art is giving us always a message.
Once started as a movement of rebellion is street art in any form, be it guerilla gardening, guerilla sculpturing or the good old graffiti are unthinkable of our cities and towns.
I took here samples of all kind of art which crossed my way during my travels in Albania, Germany, UK, Italy, North Macedonia, Romania, Turkey and Bosnia. Not only are they showing influences of western popculture, of modern urbanizing strategy of municipalities but they are also very unique in their form as art and the messages they are giving us.
After history, war, patriotism, rebellion and messages of war mongering I met these funny faces following my trip through Bosnia and North Macedonia.
Berliners are creative people, we use almost everything and anything to live out our creativity. A good example of this is this wonderful portrait, made with black coal pencil on the wooden wall of a construction.
There are not only bullets in the Balkans.
While some artists add paintings to their messages some prefer clear words as a way of self-expression or is it just self-confession?
Coming to Romania things became a little different and changed dimensions.
In Belgrade/Serbia the designer district has space for all kind of creativity.
What’s going on in the West?
Meanwhile in the UK
Last but not least…
Do you like street art? Or anything on your path can have an arty impression on you? Which signs or paintings do you see everyday? On the way to work, to your school, college or on the way home, which patterns do you follow? What do you see at you wall, or in your neighborhood?

Hi @JacobLED congratulations for this post!
Some graffiti have become authentic tourist attractions (some should be included in Google Maps ??), but I think that street art should not prevail over any other artistic expression. You must find your space and be able to transmit something so that it does not become uncivil behavior.
Some cities have turned this artistic expression into a way of discovering the city.
In Marseille (France) I had the opportunity to make a route around the city through graffiti.
In a small town in the interior of Spain (Fanzara) , he was able to create great tourist interest by creating the M.I.A.U Unfinished Museum of Urban Art, where different local artists valued multiple outdoor spaces.
My last discovery of street art was in the city of Montpellier (France)

Thank you @KarolT
To be honest, I stopped collecting graffiti pictures a very long time ago. This collection, or let’s say the part of a collection emerged during my travels.
I prefer to spend time with friends in a workshop and create things out of metal and other materials.

Great pictures @DavidTerronPla
Thanks for sharing them here.
Yeah, that’s exactly my point. I think I dropped a message under some of the pictures, that the law should never be broken.
I added maybe more then 100s of graffities on Google Maps.
I think Marseille is also one of the project cities where the municipality decided to open some free spaces for graffiti just as Berlin.
We have many wall of fames where you can just go with your colors and start to paint.

This is the best form of making places looking invitingly, accessible for younger as older audience.

I believe this is the first form of oppression a child is experiencing in his life. A stop saying parent. You could guide your child and paint with him together. I did not choose the fancy, professional graffiti which you can see in every big city, indeed there are some professional projects included, but I’ve chosen the edge, cliches, the unknown artists or someone who has chosen this way of self-expression because he has no other chance to make people listen to him, regardless she or he could choice social media. But what really is social media? Doesn’t everyone wants to be a little creative, even if it’s just decorating selfies with stars and bling bling? @Nyainurjanah
