Tarapith is a small town located near Rampurhat in Birbhum district of West Bengal. This place is very famous for Maa Tara temple, where thousands of devotees come on a daily basis to offer worship.This ancient temple considered exceptionally auspicious by hindu community. It is considered as a heaven for Tantriks.

When Lord Shiva’s wife Goddes Sati commited suicide by jumping the ritual fire, shiva roamed the entire universe moaning her loss.That time one eyeball of Goddes Sati fell right here in Tarapith. This village was earlier familiar as Chandipur, but later its name changed to Tarapith , because the bengali word for eyeball is Tara.Thus , the temple is dedicated to Maa Tara. If you come looking for peace and miracles, this is the place for you.

best time to visit the Tarapith Temple :

The tarapith temple is open to devotees everyday from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM . The months from september to march are ideal to visit this place because of good weather.
