The statue honors Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, an Indian independence leader who served as the country’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister. Unveiled on October 31, 2018, the statue was designed by Indian sculptor Ram V. Sutar and took around four years to complete.
The viewing gallery is 153 meters above ground. It provides a panoramic view of the Narmada River, the Sardar Sarovar Dam, and the surrounding hills. This lofty viewpoint offers visitors a wonderful perspective of the surrounding environment.
The area also includes a light and sound show telling the tale of Sardar Patel’s life and accomplishments. Other attractions around the Statue of Unity include the Unity Glow Garden, Valley of Flowers, Jungle Safari, Narmada River Cruise, Ekta Mall, and the Sardar Sarovar Dam.
The statue and viewing gallery are open to tourists every day except Monday, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The light and sound show begins at 7 p.m. and lasts approximately 30 minutes.
Tickets to see the Statue of Unity and viewing gallery can be purchased online or at the ticket counter on-site, however projection mapping ( light and sound show) is only accessible online. The ticket prices vary based on the type of visit (Statue Adult Price: ₹ 150/-, Statue with Viewing Gallery Adult Price: ₹ 380/-, Express Entry - Adult Price: ₹ 1030/-).
