Can Google Maps allow users to start Maps with selected area, like me opening GM app on the map of my city of Almaty? That would save us some time, especially as we use maps very often. Why do we all start with the map of USA even if we do not live there?
Maybe some option in Settings? Like:
1 Use your last location as the start-up Map
2 Use a specified location as the Start-up Map (select)
@sonnyNg Hi, I have never been in US. Unfortunately, I wasn’t selected to Connect Live this year either.
I want to be able to choose which location to see at start-up. Not necessarily my current location (I don’t always turn my location on before opening GM.)
Would be nice to have let’s say 2 options in Settings
1 Use your last location as start-up Map
2 Use a specified location as Start-up Map (select)
In case you have tried either one of the steps, please do skip them. As my first suggestion is to give a try with the first troubleshoot steps, to check if that may be the cause.
Follow up to that, do give a try to sign out of your account to see, as well.
As for the suggestion, it would be the best to share them individually, feel free to keep the same title, as you can name them Part 1, Part 2 and so on.
For the moment, this current post would be changed the status to Voting Open.
Whenever the GPS & the location detection is on, the app always opens up showing the map of the area where you are present at that instant.
That is a remarkably useful feature as one can explore the surrounding quickly and also find directions to other places from that spot.
If something else is happening, please review the settings on your device. The GPS access should be “on” & the location detection is in “high accuracy mode”.
Yes, while overseas, I also felt a need occasionally to open the map with my home city as a starting point. But the nuisance of scrolling back to that was minuscule.
