Start Google Maps navigation in the correct direction

Whenever you search for a place while being stationary, start navigation and then start driving/moving, the correct direction of movement is the opposite to what you perceive when looking at the map before starting to move. This especially happens when you are in an area for the first time, or are not familiar with the surroundings.

For example, in the picture below, my phone is exactly in the opposite direction to where the navigation line is starting:

I believe it is very useful to use the compass on your car and to lock Google maps onto North so that way you can position your self correctly.

Sometimes Google Maps might have trouble finding where you are located. If the GPS location of your blue dot on the map is inaccurate or the blue dot is not showing up, here are some things you can do to help fix the problem.
