I had the opportunity to visit Stanley Park, Vancouver in the month of Oct, 2018. It was raining the day I ventured out but that didn’t dampen my spirit. Since it was raining the park was deserted and I had the whole park to myself. It was one of the best walks I had. I started at the second beach taking the seawall path on an easy stroll. A few runners passed by as I walked along. I stopped at Burrard Inlet viewpoint. The clouds gray like smudges of wool surrounded the sky. A startling low rumble rang loud in the cool fall air. The raindrops hit the ground like needles, It was a beautiful sight, a sense of cleanliness caressing the atmosphere, washing away all impurities with it. The skies suddenly settle, as if it were comforted as I made my way past the third beach to the Siwash Rock. A solitary bird sat looking tired and hungry on the rock wall as I walked passed. The lions Gate Bridge is a marvel of steel and cables, from below it looked magnificent arched elegantly over the now gray looking water connecting west Vancouver to Prospect point of Stanley Park. I took the Lions Gate Bridges a couple of times enroute to Whistler Mountain on a bus. The bridge offers stunning, breathtaking views of the Vancouver Coal harbour. I watched a huge liner go past under the bridge as I continued walking to the Japanese Canadian War Memorial and later I caught a bus at Stanley Park Rose Garden heading downtown. This walk will remain forever etched in my mind, beautiful like a love song.
