St. Pauli & Hamburg's Red Light District

[:uk:]

St. Pauli is situated on the right bank of the Elbe rive and it is a quarter of the city of Hamburg and very close to the harbour. Here you find quite an interesting mix of lifestyle, from the modern to the hyper active party nights.

There you find Davidwache, Hamburg’s best known police station and that’s for a very good reason which is located at the red light district, an area famous for the strip clubs, prostitutes and even a street which can only be transited by men!

Would you like to visit this “sinner’s” part of the city? :smirk: Under this text you will find some photos so you can discover more!

I didn’t know Hamburg had a red light district @Marichams , I usually associate that term with the city of Amsterdam.

When I think of St. Pauli, their football team is the first thing that comes to mind. I’ve heard that the stadium produces a unique atmosphere and it should be a must to experience.

Since the red light district is not allowing women, what else did you do in Hamburg?

Hi @MortenSI ! Oh it does have it, and it is known for it. You can definitely get the vibres change when you walk by. If you have been to the one in Amsterdam, I guess that now you’ll have to go to this one to check if the term is properly applied.

I did heard that St. Pauli had a strong team and about the atmosphere, I must confess that going to a Bundesliga match was one of the things I was not able to do, from my bucket list. So I will have to trust what they say on this matter.

The Red Light District does allow women, in fact all the photos you see here I took them myself. Where we are not allowed is in that specific street, which I would have walked just out of the curiosity, but not for the real purpose of “using” those services! ?

About Hamburg, I have been placing in my latest posts some of the things I did, and inspired by a question that @PoliMC asked me, I will summarise the experience in a post that will be published today, so watch out and you’ll get you too will get that answer :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I haven’t been to the one in Amsterdam either @Marichams but I hear the area is a must to see.

I’d rather see a Bundesliga match to be honest and the St. Pauli fans in particular have a reputation for making surreal atmospheres.

I see you’ve already posted a number of posts about Hamborg, so I will read those to begin with and hopefully feel the need to visit myself.

Yeah, I would have rather been in a Bundesliga Match @MortenSI , yet those were quite pricey when in the near of the places I had been, so I had to leave that item uncrossed from my bucket list… I did watched an Old Stars match, for what is worth… Can you believe that the same happened to me while living in Madrid? Tickets of “La Liga” were always out, off and above my budget :disappointed:

Unfortunately modern day football is not getting any cheaper @Marichams . I have yet to experience a really big European match. My dream is to go the Old Trafford and watch a game between Manchester United and Liverpool. That would be incredible.

I did visit the Camp Nou once, but unfortunately it was during the summer between seasons, so I just saw the stadium and such.

Indeed @MortenSI and I do not see it getting any cheaper!

I went to the Camp Nou for a U2 Concert and to the Bernabeu to watch a match between the Real Madrid Old stars like Figo and Raúl. Also, back in 2000 I had the chance to see them training, in the facility that they had for this purpose, but a “clasico” or any first league match has always been “out of reach”. So for now, we share that bucket list item :upside_down_face:

With the current prices of these big games, it’s just like saving up for an actual vacation @Marichams .

The Bernabeu is another stadium I really want to experience either for an “el clasico” match or for the Madrid derby.

Let’s hope that one day we’ll be able to go and see all these places.
