St. Lawrence Market Toronto - Canada

Hello Guides,

If there’s something I’m passionate about visiting the cities I travel to, you can be sure that it’s the Public Markets.

Being able to see the variety of local products, people of different nationalities and cultures circulating in the same environment, hear several languages, taste regional foods and some not so regional ones.

The St. Lawrence Market ( https://goo.gl/maps/UxqDmZohdbv2vDQW9 ) provides these experiences. The architecture of the building is simply incredible, with old details, but with the charm of modernity. Since 1803, the St. Lawrence Market has been the community’s beating heart and culinary focal point of the city of Toronto. It’s the living symbol and anchor of the neighbourhood and for the families who live here ( source:http://www.stlawrencemarket.com/ )

What makes me happiest is the accessibility that the building has, with elevators that serve people with disabilities, and bathrooms adapted to serve people with disabilities and families with babies.

For anyone visiting Toronto, it’s a sensational tour.

Hi Karen!

Thanks so much for this look at the Toronto Marketplace! Your pictures spoke volumes. Markets, from those in cities like Toronto to small local farmers’ markets, have always been a “draw” for me.

Happy eating here in North America!

Thank you for sharing some helpful insight about Toronto. It is quite a historic building and like you mentioned the interior is quite interesting and delicious

Most importantly, I am excited that it has accessibility features. In the third photo, I can see a long ramp and this is really thoughtful as everyone would have opportunity to tour the market including PwDs.

I am enjoyed your post and photos.

Hello my friend, glad you liked the post.
Yes, the side of the market has an access ramp from the entrance to the main part (first floor, and underground), to the second floor there are conventional stairs and part of the elevators.

The toilets are located in the basement and are adapted to serve people with disabilities, they have grab bars, automatic doors, taps with automatic activation.

The market map, which is located on the wall of the elevator, is written in Braille, in addition to conventional writing.
