St. Andrew

Today is celebrated St. Andrew the Apostle.

In Romania, he is considered as Protector of Romania and the second founder of the Romanian Orthodox Church, after the Holy Spirit.
He is also the Protector of other states and cities.
The photo represents the Orthodox Theological Seminary "Sf. Andrei ”from Galati.
The cross on which the Saint Andrew was crucified was x-shaped, you can see it in the photo in the sculpture of the three wooden crosses.

Happy St Andrew’s day @To_paul . I would love to ask if this St Andrew is one of the disciples of Our Lord Jesus Christ or it is another Andrew, probably after the persecution of the apostles during the Roman Empire?

hi @Austinelewex he was a fisherman then he was an apostle of Jesus of Nazareth, brother to Simon Peter.
John the baptist would have recommended to Andrew to follow Jesus, and so he became the first disciple.

It is Saint Andrew in Italy as well, but we don’t have such general celebration, perhaps in some small towns might be possible.

For three days, there is a big holiday in Galati, in honor of Saint Andrew, the protector of the city.
First the spiritual processions are celebrated at the cathedral, then concerts and fairs are organized
