The journey to Telangana was very exciting. Vemaluwada is located about thirty five km from Karim Nagar, the ancient gateway of South India. Which is famous for the Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Temple.

This temple was built by Chalukya King Raja raja Chola under the supervision of renowned Architect Kunjaramallan in between 750 to 975 AD. It’s architecture is Dravidian style as top is vaulted a unique style of Deccan Architecture. Temple wall contains the carved inscription. The temple complex houses several temples dedicated to deities like Sri Rama, Lakshmana, Raja Rajeshwari Devi. Inside is a massive shiva linga. There are numerous decorated open galleries including the Mirror gallery and a corridor with a number of Shiva idols etc are spectacular. The divine musical instruments in Gopuram main entrance porch are placed on high platforms used in religious ceremonies. The ritual tank known as Dhrama Gundam as devotees have faith in its curative properties. Pilgrims first bathe in this tank & then proceed for Insight. The shrine deserves a special mention in terms of its architectural grandeur and spiritual sanctity and is one of the famous and sacred Shivate Temple. The presiding Deity Lord Raja Rajeshwara in the form of Neela Lohitha Siva Lingam in the main sanctum who is locally popular as Rajanna who is adorned on both the sides by the idol of Sri Raja Rajeswari Devi on the right side and to the left is the idol of Sri Laxmi Sahitha Siddi Vinayaka, is known for his boundless mercy in fulfilling the wishes of the devotees. Devotees perform circumabulatory ritual with their bulls as it’s considered the ride of Lord Shiva. Of course I was amazed as I never heard about and it’s known as Kode Makku.
Dargah of Hazrat Baba Bagh Sawar, inside the temple complex close to the sanctum Sanctorum is located where all followers pay their respects, irrespective of caste and creed.
Vemaluwada has many good Hotels and restaurants including Haritha of Telangana Tourism. The atmosphere remain so divinely and attractive one forget every thing and I was watching the Race of Grace among the devotees who came from far. All arrangements are made for the devotees by the temple trust and local administration also take care of the pilgrimage.

After this visit one may register his/her presence at Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy a Lord Hanuman temple and Fort Elagandal on the way while going back to Karim Nagar. It’s a major attraction among the devotees history buffs wanderers soulseekers heritage art and architecture lovers.
