Spruce Mountain Trail and Fire Tower, Corinth N.Y.

My wife and I had a nice hike on the Spruce Mountain Trail to the Spruce Mountain Fire Tower in Corinth, N.Y yesterday. The Spruce Mountain Trail, located roughly 20 minutes north of Saratoga Springs in the Town of Corinth, is a 2.5-mile hike leading to the mountain’s summit and historic fire tower. The trail can be considered a moderate to difficult hike and leads hikers primarily through both old growth and recovering forests. Spruce Mountain is one of twenty-five mountains in the the Adirondack State Park that have fire towers atop them. The 73-foot fire tower restoration project was completed in September 2015 and is now open. The top of the tower offers amazing panoramic views of the southern Adirondacks, Hudson River, across and the Vermont border into the Green Mountains, and of southern Saratoga County.

Hello @_iwrotethesky ,

Thank you for sharing this beautiful area and amazing photos with us.

The view from the tire tower is breathtaking!

Was this your first time in this place? Do you often go hiking?

Which one was the most difficult trail you’ve ever done?

Great photos @_iwrotethesky . I felt I was hiking with you. This is part of and at the northern end of the great Appalachian Trail (2,190 miles or 3524 km). I’ve done part of the beautiful Appalachian starting in Georgia but at the time couldn’t spare the 6 months to trek all the way to Spruce Mountain :joy:

What a beautiful landscape @_iwrotethesky thanks for sharing it. While I’ve been to NY I didn’t have an opportunity to leave the city. With this beauty on hand I can see if I ever get to visit again I need to explore more widely.

@BorrisS My wife and I attempted this trail a couple winters back, but it was very icy and hard to navigate. So this was my second time, but the hike was made in full. We like to go hiking as much as possible! The most difficult trail was The Pillsbury Fire-tower trail.

Thanks @AdamGT ! I would love to someday attempt that entire trail, a friend of mine is starting soon.

@PaulPavlinovich There are so many beautiful sites that are apart of New York State. A lot of people fail to realize that New York State is very large and has much more to offer than New York City.

Strange, I have shared 9 images @RamsesMorales

@_iwrotethesky Hello, I can access the photos now. Not sure what happened before. Perhaps system error on my side, or network connection issues. Thanks anyways, and the photos are great. Such a nice site. What camera do you use?

@RamsesMorales That was just from my iPhone XS Max! I was thinking of migrating over and using my Nikon D3200, some pictures that I upload from my phone turn out sideways. Do you typically use a phone, tablet or an actual camera?

Wow! Beautiful post and photos,!

Nice travelling stor,

Thanks for sharing my dear @_iwrotethesky

I grew up near this site. My wife and I hiked there in September and saw a momma bear and 2 cubs. Awesome views north toward the higher peaks, and south of Saratoga County. I made this Spruce Mountain Tee Shirt for folks who climb the tower and want to purchase a keepsake, and I also have shirts for 42 other New York fire towers. We’re going to try to climb them all.
