Spring in Rotterdam

I always find it difficult when people ask me which season is the best to travel to Rotterdam. But, check this picture and decide for yourself whether you want to skip Dutch spring? ?

Hello @Dandoen,

Your post reminds me of my time in the Netherlands, as well as in Rotterdam. I was there for 6 months and had a great time exploring this beautiful country. You are right, spring in Rotterdam should not be missed. I remember walking on the same street shown in your photo. Such a peaceful time. I loved looking at the people sitting on the grass while reading a book or having pleasant conversations, and the birds keeping them company as well. ? Thank you for the reminder!

I will share a photo I took in a park nearby. I don´t remember the name, maybe you can remind me?

If interested, you can check out this post of Keukenhof Garden, shared by a fellow Local Guide @Onkar_Pandhare. Another perfect example of why spring should not be skipped in the Netherlands.

P.S. Amazing photo! I have enlarged it so it stands out even more. It is a good tip to remember to post the maximum size on Connect. That way Local Guides can enjoy it more. ?

@Ekattotii your picture of a park in Rotterdam is :+1: - people lying in the sun with lush greenery all around.

thanks for the kind words for my Keukenhof post. i agree with you spring makes Netherlands look pretty. But I would insist Netherlands is beautiful all year round. After tulips in spring, there are roses in summer which are as beautiful. There is an “Aalsmeer Flower Festival” that happens in June/July - i will make a post about it soon. The winter too brings along its own beautiful touch to Netherlands. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello @Onkar_Pandhare ,

I am glad that you like my picture from Rotterdam. I loved how the city has reinvented itself and its unique architecture everywhere. I can´t wait to go back.

You are right, the Netherlands is pretty all year round. I made many friends there, so I am planning to visit again to explore more of its beauty. I am thinking of getting a bike and exploring the countryside. Have you ever done so?

I can´t wait for your post about the Aalsmeer Flower Festival. I am sad to have missed attending it, but it gives me another reason to come back.

P.S. Happy belated King´s Day. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi Ekattotii - thanks for your message, It looks to me that your photo was taken in one other very pretty part of Rotterdam, a park simply named Het Park [The Park]: https://goo.gl/maps/ZZ9EAgw3s6SjUt429

Haha nice! Heemraadsingel?

Almost correct, it’s the Statensingel.

Hi @Dandoen ,

Thanks for the reply and for sharing the name of the park. :slightly_smiling_face: I really enjoying walking by Het Park and I am looking forward to do so again the future.

@Ekattotii Yes! Rotterdam is pretty in a very contrasting way to Amsterdam. I can recall reading somewhere Rotterdam was bombed heavily, therefore the city has a very modern architecture. Amsterdam remained safe during the war & retains its old Golden Age Townhouses.

Rotterdam has the largest zoo in Netherlands - Diergaarde Blijdorp! I will do a post for this too!!

I always wanted to but never explored Netherlands on bicycle though i have seen their cycle paths appear to be perfectly safe & fun!

The Aalsmeer post will be up soon - i have to shortlist the best pictures to upload.

Wish you belated Happy King’s Day!! :slightly_smiling_face:
