We need a better report spam option that is effective. I happened across a account that seems to be a spam bot. Linked to other accounts. Which are doing the same spam attempt at posting hundreds even thousands of the exact same images. Who wants to go to a map profile, interested in a business or place and see hundreds or even thousands of the exact same image. It actually appears perhaps. The said profiles are I don’t want to guess or assume. But increasing there rank by spamming thousands of photos perhaps to sell the account to someone else at a later time. I’m only guessing. But I wish there was a way to report a spam bot network or the like directly. A simple report account doesn’t seem to be the fix as they remain rather than being shut down completely. It appears as if they put one or two legitimate photos of places. Then spam mass photos then a few legitimate photos then spam more photos. One account I can honestly say has well over 16,000 of the exact same images. Another linked to that account has has thousands of more spam images and it gets worse just following the trail from who is following who and come across more spam accounts. It appears to be extremely large in scale and scope. I would like to perhaps hear from a moderator directly.
@Mikus I will tag Google Moderator @DeniGu so the team can reach out to you to allow you to share the specific details, allowing them in turn to escalate it further.
Thank you I appreciate that as I was unsure whom to tag this too.
Hi @Mikus ,
Thank you for reaching out.
I’ll contact you privately here on Connect with more details on how to report what you’ve found.
I’ll also move your post to How-tos, since it’s not a concrete idea, but feedback and a violation report. For more info on how to use the Idea Exchange, please see this post. Thank you!
Thanks for the tag, @JanVanHaver !
@DeniGu I’ve tried to email but it’s says email is incorrect or unable to receive emails.
Hi @Mikus , please make sure you read and input the email address correctly.
@JanVanHaver and @DeniGu
Would you recommend using the Maps Support Community to report such issues?
As good or better? Not both - I know
Cheers
Morten
When its a Local Guide I would suggest here @MortenCopenhagen if its something more sinister and the person has actual documentary proof then the Maps Help Community is better. People who post Local Guides issues get sent here anyway.
