DISCLAIMER: This is a gratitude post and not a meetup recap - a recollection of memories outside the meetup.
The recently concluded South India Mega Meetup was more than meets the eye.
Enthusiastic local guide and meetup champion @TravellerG spent countless hours, days, and weeks on preparation. He is fondly called TG by everyone.
On the eve of the meetup he hosted several local guides who arrived a day earlier in Bengaluru. His spacious 3-storey mansion was open and welcoming to me, @Raj_Tayade, @AjitThite, who arrived early on Friday afternoon. @MathanVibranarayan and a few others reach the next morning.
We had an amazing dinner at TG’s place. The delicacies included Idli, Sambar, Dosa, Chatney, Puttu, and Tamarind Salsa.
The golden hands who prepared and fed us the delicious food were none other than the better half of TG, Mrs. Latha Ji @LathaKN.
We feel greatly honored by your hospitality and affection, and will carry this cherished memory in our hearts.
Late in the evening, TG sacrificed his meticulously followed time table of going to bed by 9:30 pm and spent time chatting with us. The royal treat was a special edition of drink that he had conserved for a special occasion like this for 2 years. We were deeply moved by his gesture. It was a memorable evening for all of us.
It was a great celebration of sharing an abundance of experiences and gifts.
Madan generously shared handmade bags with everyone.
This was just the beginning of the loads of gifts to come over the next days.
A good start - a container for the gifts
TG also shared personal gifts like an amazing Buddha in Meditation idol, and also a brass piece of Tirupathi Balaji
The next morning Madan presented me with the amazing Meenakshi Amman idol made in brass. Thank you, my friend, for this affectionate and friendly gesture
After that, TG took us on a long drive through the wonderful streets of Bengaluru.
After that, we settled down in Cubbon Park, where TG again distributed everyone with mobile stands and caps.
After some more time, TG took us to a famous restaurant in Bengaluru and gave everyone a complimentary lunch. The taste was amazing and everyone enjoyed the meal.
The same was repeated on the second evening - more meals, more drinks, and an endless supply of tea for me and Raj. We left Bengaluru with our bags full of gifts and a heart full of love with indebtedness towards the unwavering hospitality provided by TG.
TG is truly a fountain of inspiration and a gem of a local guide
Thanks to his relentless preparation and meticulous planning, the mega meetup in Bengaluru in March 2025 was a hugely successful and memorable one for a long time to come..
