Hi, I am new here and am a Level-8 local guide. I am just curious to know how someone could win a gift from Google by contributing to Google Maps. Getting a gift from Google is great, whatever the gift is! Thank you!

Local guide is a volunteering program, you won’t get anything for contributing on Google maps but Google will recognize you as a Local Guide for your contribution. Anyway, you will get points for your every contributions on Google Maps and you can raise up your local guides levels.
However, Google Local Guides perks depends on quality contribution on Google Maps; Google sends some perks to Local Guides for high-quality contributions. Moreover, to receive perks, you must be subscribed to emails about them and contribute regularly on Maps. Please be sure that your email preferences have perk emails enabled by visiting your Local Guides settings .

@AbdullahAM You captured the essence with regards to perks/rewards. Just want to add a few details - rewards actually don’t have anything to do with contributions/ Local Guides levels. They’re mostly randomized and used as marketing gimmick and there are no patterns on who gets rewarded. It also depends to where you’re located.
We should treat perks/rewards more like an unexpected surprise. It’s nice if we end up getting it, but no need to think about it all the time @shovon52
