Hello my dear local guides I hope you are doing super duper great today I am going to share you about the smart bikes which are launched by the Chandigarh Government authorities to travel around the nearby places.
The Chandigarh is highly organized it is also known as one of the cleanest city of India. As being such organised city the authority are taking very much care of the environment also with health benefits. That’s why they introduced this smart bikes.
The city has set up many station for pick up and drop of the bikes and the rent of this bikes is very reasonable it’s just 10-rs Inr for 30-mins.
You can install an app called "smart bikes " from your play store or you can just scan the bar code on the bike station and tap the link it will get downloaded.
After filling all the necessary details you can start find the station nearby to you.
After reaching to the bike station select your bike scan the bar code pay the rent via e-wallets and the bike is unlocked.
After unlocking the bike you should always check the breaks are working properly if not you can contact to customer they will help to switch you on the other bike.
You can also adjust the seat according to your convenience so you can ride comfortably. The speed of this bikes can goes up to 25-km/hr. This bikes are hybrids e bikes one electric motor with pedal assist technology. It can charge by itself by pedaling reverse.
The government has also made a bike lane in order to have a smooth ride and there should be no disturbance for the heavy vehicles
@Pratik_89 , Good affordable concept! A sort of plan of e-bikes was implemented in my city Pune few years back but lack of awareness and discipline with citizens and some irregularities with Local Corporation made it a failure. May be it was bit advanced to locals that time.
But certainly agree with you, it should be regularized with spreading awareness for pollution and keeping tourism also in mind.
It is great initiative to make city polution free.
Here in my city Gandhinagar we have well managed around 50 GBIKE stations. Were people can pick up and drop of the bikes any station. The rent of this bikes is very nominal just Rs. 5 per hour. Also it’s free during 6.00 am to 9.00 am for senior citizens and children.
Very good reporting my friend. Your information will help tourists going there. I have seen such facilities abroad in UK. It is environment friendly, cheap and healthy. Let us hope, our power hungry politicians will arrange these in India everywhere…
I don’t know if you are aware that there is a new dedicated category on Google Maps for these places. It is called Bike sharing station. It might not yet be translated into all languages.
Chandigarh is a very good tourist place. I have been there in 2016 as a tourist for 2-3 days. Rock garden is my favourite place in Chandigarh. Smart bikes were not there at that time.
Chandigarh is not a very big city. One can easily cover major tourist places in 2 days by using smart bikes.
In Delhi near Connaught Place, I saw such smart bikes. I saw that here in Pune as well. But now a days these are not in operation in Pune.
Thank you so much @TravellerG for the appreciation I wish our governments heard our request and make all the city with the e bike facilities it will be one good step for our environment
Hi @AjitThite sir I am really happy to know pune authorities had taken such a great initiative for our citizens. Slowly and steadily people have to admit and take a step towards our environment care.
Hi @Shrut19 di I totally agree with you it’s make a lot of difference via economically also its good for your health people who don’t get time for work out they can travel via e bike and can sweat out.
Hi @NareshDarji that’s really great thing to know I am really bit jealous as not having such facility in my city but I am really happy for all the people living in Gandhi Nagar.
So good they have kept free for senior citizens and children really a great thing.
Please do make a list of bike share stations, @Pratik_89 .
But linking to a list maintained by the bike share program might be a better idea since they are more likely to maintain it over time than individual Local guides are.
I was surely wasn’t aware about it but I need to understand how should I add the list. Do you have any post or link where I can read and understand how to add the stations?
Hi @abhishekpatk I really loved the city the way they have planned and organised. There are many cities who have installed this e bike facilities where there is less populated.
I believe they should also consider in mumbai as being one of the biggest and busiest city of India.
First, you should check if the Bike Share Station category is available in your local language. If yes, you could check and edit such places to this category if this is not already the case.
If you want to make a public list you can learn how here. But I don’t recommend you do so since you will need to update it every time a station closes or a new one is added to be really helpful. I would not give myself such an obligation when others probably do a better job than me.
