~Sliding Around the Bay Area and Beyond as a Local Guide~

What is the most interesting thing you’ve done as a Local Guide?

Hi I’m Anthony,

A senior at Menlo College on Student Government and a long time Google Guide User. On Student Government I manage clubs on campus and help plan student body events. I commute from Westborough to Atherton everyday to school and am always looking for great eats. I reside in South San Francisco California and can name all the Boba Shops within a 30 mile radius by memory (I’m serious), but anyone with access to the lovely Google Maps Search could do the same. Besides updating businesses hours of operations, posting hundreds of photos for all to view, confirming phone numbers, and locating store entrances the most interesting thing I’ve done was slide around.

“What do you mean by that? Like Playground slides?”

Me: Yes!

“Like exploring Bay Area’s Cities?”

Me: Yes!!

[ Slide Around ] is a slang term that means to check it out.

For a week I searched on Google Maps of where are the best playground slides in the Bay Area, especially in San Francisco. I had to test them of course! I packed large pieces of cardboard in my car and slid on six of them with my friends and cousins. In my opinion, I would say that the best slide would have to be the Seward Mini Park Concrete Slides. I then brought along a winter plastic sled the next month and “tested” the slides again. If you want to know the other cool slides, I will be posting a list soon!

Over the past four years, I have visited all the major malls, milk tea chains, and wonderful experiences in the Bay Area as a college student with the help of the recommendations my friend, social media, and positive reviews from Google Maps. In addition, I am an avid concert goer, I go to one at least once a month! As a college student, one is constantly searching for what to eat for after class. Burgers! Cute Dessert Cafes! Local Coffee Shops! Sliding from one restaurant to the next Google Guides have always been a source of inspiration to try new foods, experiences, recommended locations in the area. This was especially handy when I visited Singapore, Philippines, and Japan over the Summer. I was able to immerse myself in what the locals enjoyed and check out sights that were online posts.
