You see this as you walk out of the chatrapati shivaji maharaj railway station train station. This is a historical place. The local informants, guider show this to the foreign visitors and inform them about it. There is a selfie point in front of the statue .
This statue stands tribute to Sir Pherozeshah Merwanjee Mehta, a Parsi politician, lawyer and one of the founding members of the Indian National Congress in the time of the British Empire in India.
The statue depicts Pherozeshah Merwanjee Mehta as a Parsi gentleman wearing the stereotypical Parsi hat, dressed in a suit and the robes of his legal profession. The statue stands directly in front of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai building, opposite Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. The statue is worth a visit. Not only is it a monument to an important man, it looks good standing in front of the municipal building and it’s close to the terminus, an attraction in itself.
Probably the best book in English on Mehta is Hormasji P. Mody, Sir Pherozeshah Mehta: A Political Biography (1921). See also V. S. S. Shastri, Life and Times of Sir Pherozeshah Mehta (1945).
