Many local areas are looking for ways to attract visitors. One of our favourites is following Silo Art Trials. We started the Wimmera Mallee art trial in Rupanyup with the Julia Volchkova depiction of local rural youth. The nearby visitor information centre can provide a hard copy visitor map to help navigate between silos.

The silos are spread out over 50 kms, and many are located in the country, so a car is handy.

We stopped in the small village of Beulah and set up camp at the Beulah Caravan Park. Nice shady and grassy camp site next to Little Yarriambiack Creek waterhole (nice share walking path around the waterhole)

Heading north up the trail to Rosebery. Artist Kaffeine focused on the self reliant character of many of the local male and female farmers. The Mallee can be a harsh, dry environment.

Further north is the Lascelles silo which depicts local couple Geoff and Merrilyn

Of course, we can not visit this part of Victoria without visiting the best vanilla slice bakery in Australia. Sharp’s Bakery in Birchip has pick up Australia’s number one vanilla slice award a number of times. We recommend getting half dozen and also getting there early, they tend to sell out.
